Peaceful Coexistence in Refugee Hosting Communities in Lebanon (PCL)

In four municipalities in North Lebanon and Akkar, the PCL project aims to promote peaceful coexistence between Syrian refugees and host communities. It seeks to improve living conditions through sustainable solutions developed at local level.

Refugee hosting communities face the challenge of improving living conditions while strengthening relations between Syrian refugees and local residents.

The project forms part of the special initiative “Tackling the Root Causes of Forced Displacement, Stabilising Host Regions, and Supporting Refugees” commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Using a participatory approach, it identifies local needs related to peaceful coexistence and living conditions and implements tailored responses. These include training municipal and private sector staff in participatory planning and implementation and developing conflict resolution skills. This approach is designed to ensure that both refugees and host communities benefit from sustainable, locally driven solutions.
